Teer agent Shyamal Debnath of Dhubri injured in police firing

DHUBRI: One Shyamal Debnath of Golokganj of Dhubri district, who allegedly was running a teer ticket counter at Biratnagar Chariali, was injured in police firing and brought to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital on Thursday.

A police source said that Golokganj police team was on a drive to close the alleged teer counters operating under its area, and when the team reached Biratnagar Chariali, goons of teer agent Shyamal Debnath attacked the police team and tried to escape but in retaliation, police fired at him and he got injured.

A senior police officer of Dhubri district informed that drive against the teer and digit gambling would continue till it was totally wiped away from the district.
