Temperature To Stick On 11 Degree Celsius On New Year's Eve In Guwahati

GUWAHATI : Guwahati is all set to welcome 2023 with chilled vibes. The temperature is predicted to fall to 11 degree celcius on 30th and 31st December. 

As per the reports of regional meteorological centre in Guwahati, the city is going to witness extreme shiver as the minimum temperature will be 11 degree celcius in the coming days. The maximum temperature has been predicted to be 24 degree celsius in Assam's Guwahati. 

The MeT department has released information which indicates dense fog, cloudy weather and mist in the next couple of days. Furthermore, the city is going to get all chilled up in the 1st of January as well. However the minimum temperature will be 12 degree celcius. 

Assam has been witnessing severe cold wave, with temperatures between 13-14 degree celcius in the past few days. Apart from the perks of winter, hailstorm lashed several places in Assam such as Moran, Tingkhang, Lahowal, Lekai and Naharkatia. Several houses got destroyed due to the sudden hailstorm situation. 

Assam CM had assigned departments to assess the destruction in order to assist them financially. As per the sources, 132 villages in Upper Assam got victimised along with 4,500 kutcha houses. A total of 18,000 people got affected due to the hailstorm. 

Though no death or injuries has been reported, but several schools and Angadwadi centres got destructed. Post hailstorm pictures and videos went all viral on social media on 26th of December, where roads are seen fully covered with white hails. Furthermore, eight flights got delayed from the LGBI airport due to low visibility caused by dense fog, on Wednesday. 

The flights got delayed by four hours, as per the reports. However, the impact was comparatively less on the roads and railways. The northeast bound trains were delayed by 20 mints on Wednesday. 

Not just Guwahati, entire northeast states witnessed severe cold this year with minimum temperature of 3.7 degree celsius in Shillong.
