DONKAMUKAM: The TET qualified candidates of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, in a press meet held on Thursday at Hemtun Donkamukam, West Karbi Anglong, demanded the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to fill up the vacant posts of teachers in the districts.

"To fill up the vacant posts of teachers in the district, TET was conducted in 2012. Also, special TET for Karbi Anglong was held through which 717 posts were filled out of 1,974 posts. Total 1,257 posts are still lying vacant," said Josing Bey, general secretary of the Karbi Anglong TET Association.

He further said that they had apprised KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang on February 12, 2020 for notification of the remaining posts but so far no positive response had come in this regard. He also said that the authority was aware of the inadequate number of teachers in schools but was reluctant to take proper steps due to which the education scenario in Karbi Anglong was poor. "This attitude of KAAC shows that they are neglecting education and we request them to fill up the vacant posts of teachers by October," he said.
