TEZPUR: Department of Assamese, Tezpur University in association with Swadhin Theatre staged an Assamese play 'Tomar Nibir Mayare'. The play was written and directed by established playwright Rituparna Das. The duo cast of the play was Aparna Dutta Choudhury and Satyajit Gogoi. The play was staged at the Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha (KBR) auditorium at Tezpur University.

The event was hosted by Dr Juri Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese, Tezpur University. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Subrat Jyoti Neog, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Assamese and the inaugural address was delivered by Prof Chandan Kumar Sharma, Department of Sociology.

The play is based on various socio-political issues surrounding the State of Assam. The one-hour long play, with only two characters, embarks on a romantic journey with both characters sharing their thoughts over a few phone calls.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by the director, cast and crew of the play. The Public Relations and Information Officer of the University, Amborish Bordoloi, also spoke about the recently released web series 'Kolongpar', streaming in the CND Play app, which is made by the alumnus of Tezpur University.
