TEZPUR: Tezpur University (TU) flagged off the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration with an essay and quiz competition and a Prabhat Pheri.
A lot of enthusiastic students participated in the essay and quiz competitions which were held on August 11. The participants of the essay competition were given the choice to write in either English, Hindi or Assamese. The winners of the three languages will be awarded individually. The Quiz Master of the quiz competition was Abhilash Das, a student of Tezpur University. Questions on India's independence struggle, regional freedom fighters and Indian armed forces were asked in the competition. The prizes of both the competitions will be distributed at the Independence Day celebration on August 15.
The members of NSS Cell, Tezpur University organized a Prabhat Pheri on August 12 under the supervision of Dr Amiya Kumar Das, Co-ordinator, NSS Cell, Tezpur University. Around 100 students took out a cycle rally where each of the students displayed the Indian National Flag on their cycles. The NSS members will continue organizing Prabhat Pheris every morning until August 15. The flags used in the Prabhat Pheris were hand-woven Khadi material National Flags woven by local weavers of Assam.
