JAMUGURIHAT: THB College of Jamugurihat observed the 72nd Raising Day of National Cadet Corps (NCC) on Sunday with a day-long programme here.
The principal of the college, Dr. Ajit Hazarika hoisted the flag which was followed by lighting of earthen lamps by Golap Kalita, former professor and head of the English of the same college. The NCC cadets performed a magnificent march past which was followed by a series of lectures of guests. Golap Kalita, former NCC officer of THB College delivered a lecture on the importance and value of NCC in student life with special focus on character building. Dr. Ajit Hazarika, principal of the college addressing the cadets said, "Unity and discipline, the motto of NCC teaches cadets how to live in a society maintaining communal harmony". Ganesh Patha, former vice principal of the college, Baneswar Bora, former ANO of Nagsankar HS, Dr. Amal Saikia, former ANO of the college also addressed the gathering.
Cadet Kalyandeep Bora delivered a lecture on 'Value and importance of NCC in student life'. The open session was also attended by Khanjan Kumar Das, Dr. Arun Sarma, professors of the college, Anjan Baskota, Kamal Bhattarai, Sourav Sarma, ANO's of Dakhin Nagsankar HS, Karchanatala Anchalik HS and Jamuguri HSS respectively.
A multi dimensional cultural programnme was held in the college auditorium after the open session. ANO of THB College Dr. Tilak Sarma forwarded a welcome address while cadets Jayanta Medhi, Amandeep Bora and Rita Choudhury carried out the proceedings.
