HAFLONG: The fourth edition of two-day Jatinga Festival was inaugurated by Chairperson of N C Hills Autonomous Council Ranu Langthasa by lighting a lamp in presence of Executive Members, L Darnei, Nojit Kemprai, Ratan Jarambusa, Golonjo Thaosen and others near Jatinga on Friday.

The Jatinga Festival is being organized with the theme of conservation and preservation of Jatinga birds and also to create awareness among the masses about the importance of conservation of birds and other natural phenomena.

In the inaugural session, Forest Department released a documentary and a brochure on Jatinga Bird mystery which was appreciated by all the guests and dignitaries present.

Speakers like EM Darnei, CCF Tungnung, PS Kemprai, Chairman, HMB, Naiding appreciating the natural beauty and bounty of Dima Hasao dwelt at length about the conservation and preservation of not only the Jatuinga birds but also about the fountains, flora and fauna. They also conveyed the message of Chief Executive Member, NCHAC Debolal Gorlosa who could not attend the event as he was preoccupied with some other emergencies.

Earlier, Joshringdao Phonglo, Convenor of the Jatinga Festival while appealing to celebrate the festival responsibly, explained how the team have contributed a lot to make the event a grand success.

Food stalls were also organized to provide mouth watering local food items for the people visiting jatinga festival.

To entertain the people a musical event was also organized wherein Astra, The Phrasers, Niranjoy Kemprai, Achangbe Nriame kept the audience mesmerized through their excellent performances. Talking to media, Joshringdao Phonglo, Convenor of the Jatinga Festival appealed to celebrate the festival responsively to create awareness regarding the conservation and preservation of Jatinga birds and the natural beauty and bounty of Dima Hasao.
