RANGIA: "There will be no crisis of food grains in the Northeast during COVID situation." This was stated by VA Malegaokar, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Rangia in a press meet held at DRM's conference hall maintaining COVID protocol. Sanjib Ghosh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) was also present in the press meet. In the press meet, DRM Malegaokar said that Rangia Railway Division had made sufficient arrangements to unload food grains from the goods trains in different railway stations in Rangia Division. For this purposes 350 labourers had been given special identify cards, he said.

"Rangia Railway Division is always ready to help the State Government during this pandemic," he added. In response to a question, DRM Malegaokar assured that no passenger and express train like Manash Rhino Passenger, Lachit Express, Rangia-Tinsukia/ Dibrugarh would be cancelled during this situation although N F Railway was compelled to cancel some trains due to less number of bonafide passengers.

"A 48-km new railway line between Abhayapuri and Gauripur in Dhubri district is ready to be inaugurated within next month after getting the green signal from the CRS. We are all waiting for CRS inspection," the DRM said. On the other hand, four lifts and two escalators in Rangia railway station are ready to operate after getting No Objection Certificate from the State Government, he added.
