BONGAIGAON: Soon there will be no zero teacher schools in Assam. Under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's direction, the education department will work hard to achieve this," said State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Bongaigaon on Thursday while speaking at the zonal conference of officers of the lower Assam education zone.
Dr Pegu said, "The zero- teacher schools will be amalgamated and merged with the nearest school where there are sufficient teachers. Rationalization of teachers, issue of kutcha building of schools, etc. will also be addressed as soon as possible."
"The issue of infrastructure problems in schools will be resolved in the next two years and for all officers will have to work in mission mode," said the Education Minister.
He also asked the officers to report about the vacant posts of teachers in details so that the government could process to appoint new teachers to fill up those vacancies.
"Besides, the time of superannuation of teachers should also be reported by the officers at an early stage so that government can take the necessary steps," Dr Pegu added.
He further emphasized n the enrollment process and better performance of the schools. "Especially for classes IX and X, digital classes will be arranged," he said.
Earlier, speaking at the event, Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak gave the inaugural speech quoting the best performing students' results.
The meeting was also attended by Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury, Secretary of Secondary Education, Dr. Bijoya Choudhury, Secretary of Elementary Education, Mamata Choudhury, Director of Secondary Education, Suranjana Senapati, Director of Elementary Education, and other officers.
