Thief arrested with stolen idol of Lord Krishna in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Tezpur Police solved a burglary case by arresting the accused along with the stolen idol of Lord Krishna and other valuable items of Polo field Bamungaon Namghar on Thursday.

Talking to the media, Numal Mahatta, Additional SP, Sonitpur said that on February 17, a complaint was lodged by a member of Bamungaon Namghar, namely Bipul Baruah, a resident of Bamungaon, with Police Station Tezpur regarding theft in the namghar. Acting on the complaint, a case number 346/2021 under Section 380 IPC was registered at Tezpur Police Station.

During the course of investigation, a team from Tezpur Police Station led by I/O Sub Inspector Litumoni Sarmah, on the basis of human intelligence and technical support, arrested the thief, who was identified as Najir Hussain, son of Abdul Kadir of Nepalipatty area. On the disclosure of the accused, the idol of Lord Krishna and other valuable items were recovered and seized. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta, Superintendent of Police, and Additional SP, Numal Mahatta.
