Three Cachar boys stranded in Ukraine, DC Keerthi Jalli assures help

SILCHAR: Cachar administration has taken initiative for the safe evacuation of three students now stranded in war-torn Ukraine. Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli contacted Muhim Ahmed Khan, who hailed from Kayasthagram in Kalain, over phone and ensured that he had been registered in the Portal of Assam Government helpdesk.

Ibadur Rahman Khan, father of Muhim informed the media that his son along with other students from Assam took shelter in a metro subway, now used as a bunker. Sumy, the town they stayed was badly hit in the ongoing Russian strike as all the shops were closed. Stock of food was limited. Muhim had informed that Romania border was 250 km far from Sumy and hence they could not reach there on foot. Ibadur had sought the help of Prime Minister and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the safe return of his son.

On Tuesday, Circle officer, Katigorah, Kaberi Rongpipi, as instructed by Jalli, visited Ibadur's residence at Katigorah and had an hour long discussion on the strategies which were being taken by the Assam government for the safe evacuation of Muhim Ahamed Khan and other students from Cachar district.

Rongpipi said, "Cachar DC has asked his parents to write a petition mentioning the details of Muhim Ahmed Khan, like passport, visa, etc.so that the same could be shared with the higher authorities for his help and speedy evacuation."

Muhim Ahamed Khan, a fourth-year student, is pursuing an MBBS degree from Sumy State University, Ukraine. Sumy is a city in north-eastern Ukraine. As reported, more than 100 students hailing from Assam are presently stranded in different parts of Ukraine.
