Boko: At least 15 personnel of the CRPF and Jharkhand Police including three CoBRA personnel from Assam were injured in a blast in the Kuchai area of Saraikela Kharsawan district in Jharkhand on Tuesday. An improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated at 4.53 am by suspected Naxals while personnel were undertaking special operations.

Among the 15 injured, 13 were personnel from the 209th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), a unit of the CRPF, and two Jharkhand Police personnel. The injured were airlifted to Ranchi.

The three CoBRA personnel are Mijanur Rahman from Boko in Kamrup district, Sunil Kalita from Dimu, Rangia in Kamrup district and Sambhu Mallah from Hojai in Nagaon district. According to their family members, they are now admitted in Bhagawan Mahavir Medica Super speciality Hospital in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Mijanur Rahman from Boko has been posted in Jharkhand along with his battalion 209 CoBRA for four years. His wife, 4-year old son and his parents live in Boko. His wife Beauty Begum said, “Though the incident occurred at around 4:30am, I was informed at around 6:27 am. God saved them and I will pray for their early recovery. Now they are admitted at the Super Speciality Hospital, Ranchi and I talked to him over phone. He was injured in the backbone and left hand. Initially, I was afraid because last year Utpal Rabha of Bajendoba, Meghalaya died in an ambush in Jharkhand. He was from the same battalion and my husband was among those who had carried his body from Jharkhand to Bajendoba. But after talking to him over phone I can relax now. I pray to God for others to get well soon.”
