DIBRUGARH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh and Coordination Unit, CBBO for FPOs, Directorate of Research (Agri), Assam Agricultural University Jorhat jointly organized a three-day long capacity building programme for the beneficiaries of FPOs of Dibrugarh district.

The programme was supported by APEDA Guwahati office and at KVK-level programme director of the programme. Dr Diganta Sharmah and Dr Sanghamitra Sarma were the Programme Coordinators. The programme was inaugurated by the chairman of the district development authority, Dibrugarh, Ashim Hazarika, Associate Directorate of Research (Agri) AAU Jorhat, Dr Mrinal Saikia, ADC Dibrugarh, Jitu Kumar Das and Coordinator of AAU Jorhat unit, Dr MK Chauhan.

Ashim Hazarik emphasized the importance of eco-friendly agriculture for the sound health of mankind and urged participant farmers to act accordingly while Dr Mrinal Saikia delivering a valuable lecture on doubling farm income through farmer producer organizations and urged participants to develop agricultural activities as viable commercial entity. ADC Jitu Kumar Das asked the participant farmers to convert agriculture as remunerative proposition with true sense of honesty and with the spirit of true workmanship and informed that he was always ready to provide help as and when necessary.

For sustainable and profitable FPO Business, Dr Hemchandra Saikia, an expert in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, provided some useful tips yielding optimum marketing efficiency.

Altogether 15 relevant and need-based classes were organized for the members of two FPOs of the Dibrugarh district where ten resource persons imparted training on various aspects of capacity building. The programme ended successfully with the participation of 50 member farmers of two FPOs promoted by CBBO local unit KVK Dibrugarh and certificates were distributed to all the participants after completion of the programme.
