Three get life term for witch-hunting in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: A fast-track court at Tezpur in Sonitpur district on Friday sentenced three persons for life in connection with a case of witch- hunting incident that took place in Rangapara area in Sonitpur district on December 2020.

The convicted persons are Mahesh Orang, Bhuglu Bhuiyar and Atul Bhuiyar. All three have been found guilty under section 302 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the Prevention of Witch Hunting Act. Case number 111/20 had been registered with the Rangapara police station in 2020.
