Three Young Girls drowned while taking 'Selfie' near Burhidihing River in Margherita

Margherita: Picnic turns fatal after three young girls got drowned while taking a selfie at Buridihing ghat in Borgolai region of Margherita sub-division on Thursday morning.

As per a police report, the girls went to Buridihing River for a picnic party along with their other school friends.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Margherita Police Station, officer-in-charge, Prateem Gogoi said, “All the three girls got drowned while taking a selfie, we have been informed that the girls went close to the Burhidihing River and got slipped thereafter.”

The deceased girls have been identified as the students of Borgolai Adarsh Hindi High School.

The bodies of the deceased girls were sent for post mortem, informed OC Gogoi further.

The incident had shocked the entire region since the morning hours.
