Guwahati: In a move that would further encourage the doctors and faculties across medical colleges of Assam, State Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the government would soon introduce a time-bound promotion scheme for all the faculties of medical colleges of Assam.

This has been a long-standing demand of the Medical College Teacher's Associations as per Medical Council of India (MCI) criteria.

Sarma said that the implementation of the scheme would be in the form of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme and it would be introduced in all the medical colleges of Assam for all clinical disciplines.

The decision to execute the DACP scheme was taken at a meeting with the representatives of Teacher's Associations of all the seven medical colleges of Assam. The representatives in the meeting included Dr. Partha Pratim Dutta, Dr. Rajiv Das from AMCTA, Dr. Prosenjit Ghosh, Dr. Pradipta Ray Choudhury from SMCTA, Dr. Bandana Mahanta, Dr. Dharmakanta Kumbhakar, Dr. Subhajtoti Deka, Dr. Punadhar Deori from DMCTA, Dr. Manoj Singha, Dr. M. Saiful Alam from FAAMCHTA, Dr. Kamala Deka, Dr. Narendra N Ganguly from JMCTA, Dr. Tulsidas Bhattacharjee and Dr. Utpal Bora from GMCTA.

The DACP scheme, if implemented, will enhance an early promotion and financial benefits for the medical faculties of Assam. The scheme would help correct the long-standing stagnation in Registrar and AP levels.

The DACP has been proposed to be implemented as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India (MCI), the joining cadres can shape and tailor their careers as per their aspirations and academic intellect.

The scheme also offers Senior Residency scheme which will be a rewarding orientation in shaping the future of young post-graduates. Most of the post-graduate seats will be created across the medical colleges of Assam and will be further strengthened in the public health system.

The DACP has been implemented in 20 Indian states in all central universities, AIIMS and PGI.
