Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Pegu reaches out to family in dire straits

TINSUKIA: Deeply moved at the plight of a miserable family, the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Bhaskar Pegu took instant steps to provide relief that brought succour to the family hailing from Dirakmuk Thapabari under Hahkhuti Gaon Panchyat of Sadiya LAC.

The bread earner of the family, Bor Saikia has been paralysed while her only daughter aged 25 is differently-abled. The wife of Bor Saikia, Kanduri Neog told media persons that they had been under extreme financial stress and neither any public representative nor any government official ever listened to their difficulties. Their situation became worse following lockdown. After a local Kakopathar portal relayed the story on Thursday, it came to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner. He immediately sent Soroj Sonowal, Election Officer, Tinsukia, with relief and cash of Rs 5000 which was delivered to the family on Thursday.
