TINSUKIA: Pension Demand for Senior Hacker in Assam: The Tinsukia District News Paper Hawkers' Association (TDNPHA) has demanded to award pension to senior paper hawkers who have been rendering their services with utmost dedication braving all odds in the morning hours.

In a communiqué, Bidhan Das, president of TDNPHA, stated that the government had extended pension time-to-time to vulnerable societies but the paper hawkers who have been leasing a sustainable life to the paper industry, were left out. Das urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide an honourable pension to senior hawkers who attain the age of 60 years, stating further that the government recently hiked the pension of journalists from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. Das also lamented that the families of persons like Dinesh Saha, Basistha Singh, Saman Singh, Surendra Prasad and others have been undergoing severe financial hardship and are unable to make both ends meet and the government has not taken any steps for future security of these hawkers.
