DOOMDOOMA: As per directive of Central Government to hold Sub-national Immunization Day in 19 districts of Assam on May 28 in view of the re-identification of polio patients in several parts of the world, Tinsukia District Task Force held its first meeting at the conference room of Tinsukia Urban Primary Health Centre recently.
District Immunization Officer Dr. N.K. K Bora detailed the preparations being made by the district Health Department for the successful implementation of the Sub-National Immunization Day which will start from May 28. Under this campaign, 144,785 children aged zero to 5 years in Tinsukia district will be vaccinated against polio.
The Government of India launched this special programme to ensure that no child is excluded from receiving polio vaccination to achieve the goal of establishing India as a completely polio free country. Under the Sub-National Immunization Day, health workers will go from house to house and administer polio vaccine to children in schools and other public places. Joint Director ( Health) Dr Jayanta Bhattacharya urged every parent to be sure to vaccinate their children against polio.
