MORIGAON: The All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU), Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad (TYCP), All Tiwa Protection Committee (ATPC), All Tiwa Woman Association (ATWA) and Tiwa Cultural Society (TCS) have expressed serious concern over mushrooming of microfinance banks and entrepreneurs for allegedly exploiting the ST women in the name of providing loans to them under SHGs.
In a memorandum signed by the secretary of ATSU, Chaniram Malang; secretary of TYCP, Ratneswar Deuri, secretary of TPC; Sejoy Deuri, secretary of ATWA; Tutumoni Dekaraja and secretary of TCS; Bakindra Mosrang, the organizations have demanded the Deputy Commissioner to take exemplary action against the microfinance banks and entrepreneurs. The organizations also said that a section of women had to go through mental pressure and stress as they could not refund loans to the microfinance banks and entrepreneurs. The organizations also demanded the DC to take action against the sale of illegal liquor in ST dominated areas.
