Guwahati: Trinamool Congress national general-secretary Abhishek Banerjee is likely to visit Assam on May 11.
Abhishek Banerjee will visit Assam in order to inaugurate its party office in Guwahati and meet leaders of northeast state units.
As per reports, a party office would be set up in Guwahati and several leaders from various parties will switch over to the TMC. The ruling party of West Bengal is setting its sight to expand its footprint in the northeastern states.
Meanwhile, the party has vowed to emerge victorious in the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections in Tripura and is eyeing to come to power in the state.
The party is of the view that establishing a strong presence in Assam, as well as in neighbouring Meghalaya, will be crucial in establishing their long term goal.
The TMC currently intends to kick start its campaigns in Assam with the panchayat elections.
The Mamata Banerjee led party is striving to enhance the organization of the party and Abhishek Banerjee will provide guidance pertaining to this matter.
According to reports, the TMC will throw some light on the failures of the BJP and will emphasize how the aspirations of the people of Assam have gone for a toss.
The Trinamool Congress recently appointed former Congress leader Ripun Bora as the Assam unit President of the party.
However, the party will have to overcome some obstacles in its quest for political supremacy. The challenge will be in the form of the Aam Aadmi Party which also intends to expand its footprint and become the principal challenger to the ruling BJP.
This is all due to the fact that Congress is inconsistently declining and is losing election after election either to their arch-rival BJP or other regional players.
It is crystal clear that Congress has failed to provide a viable alternative to the BJP juggernaut as a result of which, regional parties have been compelled to step up and fill in their shoes.
