SIVASAGAR: Protests against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act continued on Thursday with black flags shown to Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Jorhat Parliamentary Constituency Topon Kumar Gogoi by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) activists in Sivasagar.
The MP was at the Circuit House when the AASU activists led by its education secretary Sarat Hazarika and district secretary Samiran Phukan shouted slogans against the MP, the BJP, and the newly-enacted Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Following the demonstration, police personnel on duty rushed to the spot and arrested the activists of the students’ bodies who were later released.
