GOLAGHAT: The District Disaster Management Authority, Golaghat in association with Women and Child Development Department, Golaghat and with the support of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), conducted a two-day training for AWWs on child and women care in relief camps and temporary shelters during emergencies in Golaghat.

The training was inaugurated by Dinchengfa Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, DDMA, Golaghat & I/C SDO(Civil) Dhansiri subdivision. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, DDMA, Golaghat welcomed all present and explained the importance of the training and the role of the AWWs and other key functionaries during emergency. The resource persons for the training were Jyoti Prasad Bezbaruah, CDPO, ICDS, North Golaghat and Mayuri Baruah, Gender Specialist, DHEW, W&CD, Golaghat. The District Project Officer, DDMA, Field Officer (Disaster Management) Golaghat Revenue Circle and Supervisor, East Golaghat attended the training programme and provided inputs during the training.

A total of 46 Anganwadi workers from different blocks attended the training programme and were trained on women and child-centric emergency preparedness, relief camp management and child-friendly spaces during emergencies, ICDS roles, nutrition mapping and assessment, ensuring menstrual hygiene during disasters, SDRF norms etc.
