Kalaigaon: In a unique initiative, the North East Regional Centre of National Fishery Development Board organized a three-day long training on fish farming in the premises of Kendukalai office at Kalaigaon in Udalguri district under the Bodo Territorial Council (BTC), to popularize the concept of fish farming among the fish farmers of the Scheduled Caste community from Thursday. It will conclude on Saturday.
The training programme was formally inaugurated by Fishery Assistant Commissioner Nilakhsi Baishya. After that, Ashim Borah, Officer in-charge of National Fishery Development Board welcomed the participants and explained the objectives of the training programme. Meanwhile, Rabin Barua, Block Development Officer of Kalaigaon Development Block Office, spoke about the fish farming method and he finally advised the farmers to go for organic farming, which is the need of the hour.
Bipul Khataniar, Fishery Development Officer of Udalguri, and Himangshu Bhattacharjya, Fishery Development Officer of the District Fishery Development Office from Udalguri, also spoke on the occasion. A total of 50 fish farmers took part in this training programme. The function concluded with singing a song about fish farming by Subhas Saharia, Field Demonstrator of Udalguri Fishery Development Office.
