TINSUKIA: Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya participated in a crucial meeting of Road Safety Committee at Tinsukia on Monday and later took part in a bike rally to create public awareness on road safety at Doomdooma, Chapakhowa, Digboi and Margherita. The minister after reviewing the reports submitted by the district administration advised the concerned officials to take adequate steps in order to minimize road accidents and to display signage at accident prone areas. The District Commissioner Swapneel Paul informed that a task force has been constituted to identify vulnerable and accident prone areas in the district while expressing concern over increasing number of road casualties in Tinsukia district, mentioned about directives of Supreme Court pertaining to road accidents. The Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gurav informed that rash driving and driving under influence of alcohol are the two main reasons and bypass connections are vulnerable accident points. Among others present in the meeting were Gurnel Singh CEO TZP, ADC Chinmoy Pathak, DTO Rajib Pegu and officials from Excise and Transport departments. Suklabaidya also participated in public awareness meeting at ASTC bus stand Doomdooma, Chapakhowa HS School field, Digboi and Margherita bus stand.
