Travelling exhibition to showcase lifestyle of Zamindar Family

DHUBRI: A special travelling exhibition titled ‘Art and Spectacle: Life in the Estate’ will be organized by the Directorate of Museums, Government of Assam, at the Assam State Museum in Guwahati from November 17 to December 2. The exhibition will showcase 51 selected objects of royalty, power, and identity of the Lakhipur Mechpara Zamindar family, Dhubri.

This travelling exhibition was curated by Dhubri District Museum Officer, Mrinmoy Das who said that Lata Devi, fourth-generation heir of the Dhubri Mechpara zamindar family, had donated 200 objects to the District Museum, Dhubri on August 2018 for preservation and display.

“The special exhibition is aimed to unfold the extraordinary lifestyle of the zamindar family, showcasing different aspects of the religious, social, political and royal life of this part of Assam during the period,” Das further informed.
