One of the greatest personalities, born in a small town Tihu, Assam on 17th October, 1954. He is not only a pride of the family but for the state as well. His achievements through the hardship will always inspire the generations after him. The Ex DGP of Assam. Lt. Khagen Sarma is truly an inspirational personality. Born in a small town of Assam, life has been never easy for him. He was the third child among the seven children of his parents. He took all the hurdels as a challenge and topped the HSLC examination in the year 1971. After that he joined Cotton college, Guwahati (now Cotton University). After completing graduation from Cotton College he joined Gauhati University for his masters. He not only showed his immense talent in the HSLC examination but also cleared one of the most toughest exam UPSC in the first attempt. He cleared the examination in the year 1982 and became an IPS office. As a police officer he served in many states of Assam. He was IGP of Assam for a long period. He became the DGP of Assam in the year 2012. He was not only a responsible officer but also an amazing and loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He was instrumental in dealing with ULFA and many surrendered during his reign. He was such a workaholic that he even sacrificed family time for the State. He got retired in November 2015.
We lost this great personality on 25th October, 2019. On his 1st death anniversary, we remember him and pray to the Almighty for his beautiful soul. We will always remember the life lessons that he taught us. Your absence will always hurt us.
