TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Congress Committee paid deep homage to former three-time Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi at Congress Bhavan, Tinsukia on Tuesday. Floral tributes were paid at the portrait of the former Chief Minister by more than 200 Congress workers. Among the functionaries who attended the ceremony were vice-presidents Dharmeswar Baruah and JibanKurmi, TDCC secretary DandiSonowal, block presidents Milon Moran, BijoyGohain and Subashis Bhattacharjee of Itakhuli, Guijan and Tinsukia respectively, Mahila presidents Monisha Baruah and Lilli Ekka of Tinsukia and Itakhuli respectively, besides former MLA of Doomdooma, Dilip Moran.

Among the functionaries who attended the ceremony were vice-presidents Dharmeswar Baruah and JibanKurmi, TDCC secretary DandiSonowal, block presidents Milon Moran, BijoyGohain and Subashis Bhattacharjeof the Journalist Federation For Assam (JAFA) expressed deep condolence at the demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who breathed his last in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Monday after battling with post-COVID-19 complications. Expressing deeply shock at his demise, Kaneshwar Deka, president, and ArunSarma, secretary of Udalguri District Committee of JAFA, said that Gogoi's demise was a great lost for all communities of Assam. They also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
BISWANATH CHARIALI: Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Tarun Gogoi's death was widely mourned in Biswanath district along with the rest of the State. Biswanath District Congress Committee held a condolence meeting at Rajiv Bhavan here in which the Congress workers recalled the contribution of the departed leader. Biswanath BJP also mourned the death of Tarun Gogoi at a meeting held at the party office. Tributes were paid to the former Chief Minister at several places in the district, including Chatia, Bogang, Halem, Gohpur, Kalabari and Bedeti. The shops and business establishments remained closed till 11 am at Gohpur under the aegis of Gohpur Traders' Union.
DEMOW: Under the patronage of Thowra Block Congress Committee, a shadhhanjali programme was organized in DemowChariali on Tuesday evening to paid tribute to former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. The programme started with the lighting of earthen lamp in front of the photo of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi by Dambaru Tao, president of Thowra Block Congress Committee. After that, the Thowra Congress leaders, social workers of Demow and women also lit earthen lamps in front of the photo of Tarun Gogoi and offered flowers. The dignitaries present in the programme called Gogoi's demise an irreparable loss for the people of Assam.
