AGARTALA: In a pivotal move aimed at alleviating the persistent traffic congestion plaguing Agartala, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), under the guidance of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, has unveiled an ambitious strategy to ensure the smooth flow of city streets. Mayor Dipak Majumdar disclosed the comprehensive plan during a crucial conference held at the AMC today.

The mayor highlighted that the city had been grappling with severe traffic issues, leading to a series of discussions, including the latest convened at the behest of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. Underscoring the significance of the initiative, the mayor emphasized that the new measures formed part of a broader effort to address the escalating challenges posed by increasing traffic in the area.

During the meeting, it was revealed that a special evacuation drive would be initiated in the AMC area starting Monday. This operation comes on the heels of the successful implementation of various measures undertaken before the Durga Puja festival.

Among the decisions made, Mayor Dipak Majumdar highlighted that businesses operating without a proper vendor license within the corporation area must vacate the premises within the next two days. Non-compliance with this directive will trigger the commencement of an eviction drive from Monday onwards.

Furthermore, the mayor underscored that stringent actions would be taken against vehicles parked in designated no-parking zones across various parts of the city. These decisions, collectively forming part of a broader traffic management plan, are set to be implemented in the next two days.

The comprehensive strategy aims not only to ease traffic congestion but also to address the root causes contributing to the issue. By targeting illegal vendors and unauthorized parking, the AMC seeks to create a more orderly and efficient traffic flow throughout the city.

The announcement follows a series of successful measures implemented before the Durga Puja festival, indicating the municipality's commitment to proactive solutions. The involvement and direction of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha further emphasize the government's dedication to resolving this pressing issue.

As Agartala gears up for the special evacuation drive, businesses operating without the proper licenses are urged to comply with the directive to avoid potential eviction. Similarly, vehicle owners are reminded to adhere to designated parking areas to prevent stringent actions.

Agartala's bold move to tackle traffic congestion reflects a proactive and comprehensive approach by the municipal authorities. With a focus on immediate actions and long-term solutions, the city aims to create a more navigable and efficient urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
