Gossaigaon: In an operation launched by West Bengal police in Pakriguri village along the Assam-West Bengal border on Saturday evening, the police team apprehended two persons with Rs 17 lakh in their possession. Sources stated that Jhairul Islam and Swapan Saha, both residents of Barpeta district, were on their way to West Bengal in a XUV vehicle. The police team searched them in a general naka patrolling at Pakriguri and recovered the cash. When asked about the money, they could not give satisfactory answers. So the police arrested them and seized the cash. A case has been lodged at Kumargram PS and further enquiry is on.
