Two arrested for witch-hunting, woman rescued by police

Gossaigaon: Sensation prevailed in Polashguri village under Sapkata outpost of Gossaigaon subdivision after a witch-hunt case was reported. According to sources, after receiving information about the witch-hunt case on March 18, police acted swiftly and rescued the victim Bale Kisku (55), wife of Shunu Hajda, and arrested Robin Baskey (41) and Shunil Baskey (22) from the village.

Later, the victim was sent to Gossaigaon RNB Hospital for medical check-up and the arrested persons were taken to Gossaigaon PS for further enquiry. The SDPO of Gossaigaon, Bidyut Bikash Bora Bhuyan, while talking to media persons, said that these incidents took place due to lack of awareness among the people.
