Two-day training on scientific goat farming inaugurated in Haflong Veterinary Campus

HAFLONG: Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council, Poudamin Newme, in-charge Veterinary, inaugurated the two-day training on scientific goat farming for unemployed youths of Dima Hasao at the Haflong Veterinary Campus on Monday.

The training programme was organized by the District Veterinary Officer in assistance with Hills Live and was attended by L Z Nampui, Secretary, NCHAC, Dr J. Gogoi, Additional Director in-charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Dr B. Kakati, District Veterinary Officer, and others.

The inaugural function started with lighting of lamp by chief guest P Newme, EM, NCHAC, followed by welcome speech by Dr Kakati who explained the aims and objective of the training while appreciating the youths of Dima Hasao for their spontaneous willingness to take up farming as their source of income instead of pursuing government jobs.

Speaking on the occasion, Nampui and Dr Gogoi appealed to the youths of Dima Hasao to avail the opportunities that were being provided by the government. EM Newme said that the district of Dima Hasao was blessed with abundant natural recourses and people were hard-working. If the youths came forward for such farming, the department would extend every support to them.

All together 20 participants from Jatinga, Gunjung, Diyungbra and other places attended the training while Dr Amit Phonglo, Dr Hancy Dibragede and Dr Titus Thiek were the resource persons of the training.
