DHUBRI: A two-day training programme on PM-Poshan organized by the Food & Drug Administration and Dhubri district Health, Family Welfare department with technical support from PATH, India, was held at the Joint Director of Health Services' conference hall and it concluded recently.
Altogether 50 participants took part in the training programme which centred around the micronutrient fortification of rice whose main beneficiaries of PM-POSHAN (Mid-Day-Meal), which is a component of social safety net in India. Addressing the training programme, Dhubri Additional Deputy Commissioner Manash Kumar Saikia said that to win the battle against anaemia due to malnutrition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an announcement to mandate rice fortification in all social safety net schemes by 2024.
The two-day training programme was also addressed by state lead (Rice Fortification) PATH, India, Dr Priyakshi Borkotoky, ADC, Nitya Binod Wari, and Joint Director of Health Services, Dr SM Imdadulla.
