Two-day workshop for young reporters concludes in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: Tinsukia Zila Moina Parijat (TZMP), with active support from UNICEF, Assam and cooperation from Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, organized a two-day workshop for the young reporters under the 'Young Reporter's Network Programme' at JyotiVidyapith School, Dangari on November 28 and November 29.

Altogether 35 children across the district participated in the workshop. On the inaugural day of the workshop, TZMP general secretary JitulSonowal, while welcoming the participants and resource persons, also explained the aims and objectives of the Young Reporter's Network Programme.

Addressing the first session of the workshop as a resource person, retired Principal of Saikhowa Higher Secondary School, Pranati Baruah elaborated the history of the UNICEF and also spoke about various rights granted to the children, while journalist Abhijit Khataniar as a resource person spoke in the second session and dwelt on how to collect information for news and presentation of news.

On the second day, the participants were taught how to edit news as well as the various aspects of publishing a newspaper by journalist Abhijit Khataniar. The valedictory session of the workshop was chaired by TZMP president Luit Das and was attended by TZMP vice-president Runumoni Dutta Bhuyan, All Assam Moina Parijat member Hemanta Raj Moran, and other dignitaries.

In the next phase, TZMP, in collaboration with UNICEF, Assam, will publish a newspaper titled Mukta Akash with the participants of the workshop. UNICEF, Assam, in collaboration with Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University and All Assam MoinaParijat, has been implementing the Young Reporter' Network Programme in 10 districts of Assam.
