BONGAIGAON: A two-day workshop on 'Adaptation to Extreme Weather Event' started in Bongaigaon from Wednesday at the Birjhora Public Library Auditorium. The workshop has been organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Bongaigaon in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) to gear up advance preparedness to adapt to any type of extreme weather event or any other natural disaster.

The workshop with a two-day long schedule started on Wednesday with a welcome address from Anupam Deka, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-CEO, DDMA, Bongaigaon. Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon, Dr MS Lakshmi Priya joined the programme as keynote speaker. Speaking at the event, she shared her experience of facing disaster, especially floods in Bongaigaon district and the impact of flood on the society. She advised all the participants of the workshop to focus on the importance of advance planning rather than to focus on immediate measures in case of any type of disaster.
