Numaligarh: At least two people died and 20 were reportedly injured after a fatal road accident took place on NH-37 near Kaziranga National Park, Kanchanjuri, Kaliabor on Wednesday.

Sources said that a bus operating under Brahmaputra Travels, bearing registration number AS-01-HC-8887, was coming from Guwahati and heading towards Jorhat. It had a head-on collision with an oil tanker bearing registration number AS-01-DC-4056 at NH-37 near Kanchanjuri, Kaliabor in the afternoon.

Later, local people came forward and rescued the injured passengers. All the injured passengers were immediately rushed to Jakhalabandha Civil Hospital for better medication.

In a different incident on Tuesday, many persons were injured in a road accident that took place near Latabari, Bokakhat. According to sources, a Tata Ace goods carrier vehicle (AS-05C-8310) was carrying almost 25 persons when it lost control and fell on the roadside. People on the vehicle were coming back from the immersion ceremony of Goddess Durga idols near Losabari Difalooo River and heading towards Methoni Tea Estate to their homes. With the help of locals, police admitted the injured to the Swahid Kamala Miri Civil Hospital, Bokakhat. The condition of nine injured was reported critical and they were sent to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
