Doomdooma: The police officials of Dhola Police Station under the aegis of Assistant Superintendent of Police Sadia seized two dumpers carrying illegally mined stones on Thursday near Saikhowa Range under Doomdooma Forest Division.
As per a police report, dumpers bearing registration number AS 07AC 8774 and AS 07AC 5134 were heading from Sadia to Dhola in Tinsukia District when the officials of the police department during a routine checking at Dhola-Sadia Bridge carried out a thorough investigation and seized the two stone carrying dumpers.
The drivers and handyman of the dumpers also couldn’t produce any proper challan or documents for carrying stones during the routine checking.
Meanwhile, a case was also registered in connection to the matter by Doomdooma Forest Division.
It is to be noted that this has exposed the running of a big syndicate raj of illegally mined stones in the area.
In a similar kind of incident, a truck bearing registration number AS 23 BC 5484 was seized for carrying illegally mined stones by the Special Task Force of Tinsukia Forest Division under the supervision of Forest Ranger Kamesh Das on the same day.
Earlier, a special team of forest department personnel lead by Debabrata Gogoi, Range Forest Officer of Tezpur Sadar range under Sonitpur West Forest division, Tezpur, seized a truck bearing no. AS-01 C-5221 was laden with stone from Goroimari area under Salonibari Police Station in Sonitpur district.
Official sources said that the truck was seized for the violation of Assam Minor Mineral Rule 2013 and the forest department under Rule 63 and 64. Gogoi further added these trucks were running without TP and challan for supplying minor minerals.
Also, the forest officials under Dhansiri Forest Division in Udalguri in a joint operation with Tangla police seized three dumpers at Tangla town for carrying illegally mined stones, sands from the rivers of Indo-Bhutan border areas of Udalguri in the month of January last.
