Two from Dhekiajuli arrested for posting anti-Assamese comments

DHEKIAJULI: Two youths of Dhekiajuli town were arrested on Wednesday night by Dhekiajuli Police for alleged anti-Assamese and communal comments on Facebook. Two youths of Dhekiajuli town, identified as Prakash Roy and Navajit Choudhury, posted anti-Assamese and communal remarks on Facebook regarding the Assam bandh on Tuesday. Immediately, Biju Baruah, secretary, and Pranabjyoti Kalita, central publicity secretary of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad Dhekiajuli Nagar Mandal Committee and Shankar Das, president of AASU Dhekiajuli unit, lodged an FIR at Dhekiajuli Police Station against the two youths.

Dhekiajuli Police immediately registered a case against the two youths at the Dhekiajuli Police Station under section 153 (A) IPC. Later the two youths were arrested by the Dhekiajuli Police on Wednesday night on the basis of the FIR.
