GORESWAR: As Russia started military operation in Ukraine, two medical students from Goreswar in the newly-created Tamulpur district have been stranded in Ukraine.

Manoj Kumar Deka of Goreswar town and Sneha Deka of Baghdova area are stranded in the war-torn country Ukraine. Manoj Kumar Deka is a student of Kharkib University.

Tamulpur Deputy Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das and Goreswar circle officer Kukila Gogoi visited the homes of the students on Tuesday and assured that the Assam Government would rescue the students from Ukraine soon.

"We are coordinating with the State Home department as well as with the Centre. I am in close contact with the families and the students," said the Deputy Commissioner. Sneha Deka has reportedly crossed the Ukraine boundary by train.
