Two illegal saw mills seized in Darrang district

MANGALDAI: In a crackdown on the organized gang of timber smugglers in Dalgaon area of Darrang district, the forest staff of North Kamrup Division, Rangiya on Thursday seized two illegal modern saw mills at village Bechimari and Baroipara.

As per the instruction of Divisional Forest Officer of North Kamrup Division, Dipak Deka, Sadar Forest Beat Officer of Rangiya, Hafizuddin Ahmed and Forest Beat Officer of Mangaldai, Khagen Kalita, accompanied by a team of Assam Forest Protection Force Battalion, conducted the operation. The forest team also seized a huge quantity of valuable sawn timbers from the illegal mill complex.
