GAURISAGAR: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents at Gaurisagar and Charing in Sivasagar on Wednesday evening. The first accident took place at Bhatiapar on NH-37 under Joysagar Outpost. According to report, Manik Kumar Baruah, an employee of OIL and a resident of Bhagamukh Charingia village in Jorhat district, was going home on his Scooty bearing registration no AS04-P 1664. Suddenly, he was knocked down by a gas tanker bearing registration no NL 01-L- 1721 coming from the opposite direction. He was immediately admitted to Sibsagar Civil Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. Another accident took place at Charing Kashibari under Gaurisagar Police Station. Ananta Gogoi (65) of Kashibari was going home towards Charing on a bicycle along the Rupeswar Hazarika Path, a NH-37 link road between Charing and Kashibari. His bicycle hit a cow and he fell on the road. His family members immediately admitted him to Bhagamukh PHC but due to his critical condition he was referred to Sibsagar Civil Hospital. He breathed his last on the way to hospital.
