Government has taken epoch-making steps to impart quality education to tea tribe students- Sanjay Kishan

LAKHIMPUR: Sanjay Kishan, Minister for Tea Tribes' Welfare and Labour Welfare-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur District, on Friday inaugurated two model high schools in Lakhimpur district which have been set up in tea garden areas.

At first the minister inaugurated the Deejo Model High School. In his inaugural speech, while addressing the public, the minister said that the State Government had taken an epoch-making step to impart quality education to the students belonging to the tea tribes by establishing the model high schools in tea gardens. He added that the students of the tea tribes would be benefitted with all the government schemes concerned through these model high schools.

"All the government schemes implemented by the Education Department will be made available in 418 LP Schools of the State too, which are located in tea gardens. The State Government will appoint two TET teachers in each of these LP Schools. The budget allocation in this year for the development of the tea tribes is Rs 200 crore. In the upcoming days, the model high schools will be upgraded to higher secondary schools," the minister said.

Later, the minister inaugurated the Seajuli Model High School in the presence of Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley. Both inaugural events were attended by Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan, ADC Dhrubajyoti Hati Baruah, Inspector of Schools Dr. Ramesh Chandra Chutia, dignitaries of the tea tribe community, frontal organizations and social workers. In the events, the minister feted the teachers, Grade IV employees, cooks of the newly-established model high schools while the teachers, students presented cultural items in addition to showcasing tea tribe community culture.
