LAKHIMPUR: Two employees of the North Lakhimpur Subdivisional Office of the PHE Department were caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption while taking bribe.
These employees were identified as head assistant Rohini Gogoi and accountant Ajit Sonowal. As per report, a team of Anti-Corruption personnel caught them red-handed with a cash amount of Rs. 50,000 while they were taking bribe. It is alleged that they took the bribe for completing the pension process of one Tularam Saikia, a muster roll employee who retired from the office concerned recently. They had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from him for completing the pension process. In this regard, Tularam Saikia’s son lodged a complaint at Anti-Corruption and the team launched the operation in association with Lakhimpur police on Tuesday. The operation to trap the accused employees was laid in the matter of Anti-Corruption Bureau PS Case No. 15/2019 dated Nov 16, under section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended 2018).
