SIVASAGAR: For the past few days, two rhinos that have been causing havoc in different parts of Sivasagar district were tranquilized in the Ligiripukhuri area of Nazira in Sivasagar district on Monday. The rhinos were tranquilized by a team of 3 doctors from the Wildlife Trust of India and the Forest Department.
The two tranquilized rhinos will be shifted to Kaziranga National Park for rehabilitation. The Forest Department first used a drone camera to tranquilize one rhino and then searched for the other. As soon as the other rhino was found, it was eventually tranquilized.
Over the past one week, the two rhinos entered different parts of the district and created a terrifying atmosphere. Sources in the Forest Department suspected that the two rhinos had strayed out of the Kaziranga National Park to populated areas in search of food.
