LAKHIMPUR: The State Election Commission has expedited its activities in order to conduct the urban body poll of the State in the upcoming days.
Synchronizing with these activities, related initiative has been taken in Lakhimpur district too. As a part of such initiative, a meeting in the presence of the representatives of the political parties was convened on Saturday at Dhakuakhana SDO office in order to discuss about the reservation of the Dhakuakhana Municipal Board (DMB) seats.
Through a press release, Dhakuakhana SDO Arindam Baruah informed that the meeting commenced with Subdivisional Election Officer Kakumoni Baruah in the chair. The meeting unanimously came to the consensus of reserving the No. 1 and No. 3 seats for women while the No. 4 seat will be reserved for candidate of the Scheduled Caste (ST) community. The No. 2 seat will be kept unreserved. Notably, the Dhakuakhana Municipal Board consists of four seats.
