Two Water Resources Department (WRD) employees arrested for taking bribe in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell of Assam arrested two employees of the North Lakhimpur Division of the Water Resources Department (WRD) on Wednesday.

They have been identified as Tarun Chandra Morang and Samarjyoti Saikia. The former is the head assistant in the office of Superintending Engineer, WRD, North Lakhimpur Division, while the latter is the lower division assistant in the same establishment. They were caught red-handed while taking bribe.

As per report, the officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell of Assam on Wednesday conducted a search operation in the Office of the Superintending Engineer, WRD, North Lakhimpur Division, after receiving a complaint against the two employees. They accepted a bribe from the complainant for the issue of contractor's license. Anti-Corruption officers were interrogating the duo till the time of filing this report.
