LAKHIMPUR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) is all set to hold its 8th annual conference at Langhin town in Karbi Anglong district from February 25 to February 27. The three-day long event is scheduled to be held at Langhin Pamgaon Higher Secondary School playground with colourful programmes. In the meantime, the reception committee and the organization have almost completed all the due preparation and arrangements in order to conduct the scheduled programme with grand success.

Notably, UBPO is a revolutionary organization heading towards getting united among the downtrodden Bodo community people of the State and all over in order to ensure their safety, security and all-round development inclusively. The organization is working with a motto -- 'Unity, Peace, Prosperity and Survival'. As the result of its relentless struggle initiated for the amelioration of the community people, the State Government has of late created the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) to safeguard the identity of the Bodo people of the State.

According to the information from UBPO central committee president Manoranjan Basumatary, general secretary Pitambar Brahma, reception committee president Tarendra Brahma, working president Santanu Basumatary, general secretary Siram Mohilary, the whole agenda of the event will kick-start with a swachhta abhiyan on February 25 at 7.30 am. It will be followed by inauguration of main gate, inauguration of Najendra Mussahary dining hall, inauguration of Prabhat Basumatary cultural camp, inauguration of Late Sachin Basumatary delegates' camp, inauguration of Jaton Basumatary delegates' hall, inauguration of Kamaleshwar Basumatary pendal and main stage, inauguration of Sudesh Islary guest house, inauguration of Bhupen Chandra Narzary trade fare, registration of delegates and observers, inauguration of Dr Biswajit Basumatary and Hamen Boro memorial sports competition, CWC meeting, delegates' sitting and Shyamo Khakhlary cultural programme.

The second-day agenda of the event on February 26 will start with the unfurling of organizational flag by president Manoranjan Basumatary. It will be followed by homage paying programme to martyrs, inauguration of reception committee's souvenir Hajwari Jinjri by Sahitya Akademi awardee Ratneswar Narzary. A special open meeting will be held wherein BKWAC Chief Executive Member Mihiniswar Basumatary, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimari, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Handloom & Textile Minister UG Brahma, ABSU president Dipen Boro, Bodo Sahitya Sabha secretary Hareswar Narzary, Nepal Republic Parliament MP Kumari Meche and many other dignitaries will be present.

On February 27, the agenda of the concluding day will start with felicitation to the former leaders of the Karbi Anglong district Bodo frontal organizations and social workers. On the same day, the open session of the event will commence under the chairmanship of Manoranjan Basumatary. It will be inaugurated by Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang while reception committee president Tarendra Brahma. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the open session as chief guest while Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda will be present as distinguished guest.
