UBPO hails State cabinet’s move to create Boro Kachari Autonomous Council

Kokrajhar: The United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) on Monday hailed the State cabinet for passing resolution to create Boro Kachari Autonomous Council outside BTC for the socio-economic development and protection of language, culture and identity of Boro Kachari community as well as other downtrodden tribal people.

The president of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary and general secretary Anil Basumatary welcomed the resolution passed in the cabinet meeting of the State Government regarding the creation of Boro Kachari Autonomous Council. They hoped that the bill for creation of new council would be brought out in the ongoing budget session.

The president of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary, on behalf of lakhs of Bodo Kachari people, conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, WPT & BC Minister Chandan Brahma and MP (RS) Biswajit Daimary for their bold decision, which was taken on Saturday, to create the Boro Kachari Autonomous Council. He said that he had high hopes that the bill for creation of new council would be introduced in the ongoing session so that the people of the region could witness development as early as possible.
