UBPO, Morigaon Demand for creation of United Boro Kachari Autonomous Council

MORIGAON: Morigaon district committee of United Boro People’s Organization (UBPO) on Thursday staged a three-hour mass protest to demand immediate creation of United Boro Kachari Autonomous Council (UBKAC) and immediate solution of the 9-point charter of demands.

The UBPO has demanded creation of Boro Kachari Autonomous Council (BKAC) for the indigenous Boro-Kachari tribal people living in different areas of Boro Kachari villages or inhabitants, excluding BTC of Assam, under the provision of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, inclusion of Boro Kachari people living within Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous districts of Assam in the list of ST(Hills) as per the clause no. 8 of the Boro Accord, which is popularly known as the BTC Accord, 2003. The organization also sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
