Udalguri Goroimari Upper Primary School running with two teachers

TANGLA: At a time when the State government has been recruiting government employees in various disciplines and boasting of its improved educational scenario, there are more than one thousand primary schools running with single teachers in the rural areas of the State. According to reports, the Goroimari Upper Primary School under Mazbat block in Udalguri district has been functioning with two teachers only, one headmaster and a Hindi language teacher against the sanctioned post of six teachers including a headmaster and a science graduate teacher. The total enrolment of the school stands at 187 and it essentially needs one science graduate teacher, an english teacher and other two general teachers. Sources said the school management have made multiple requests to the concerned authority for appointment against the vacant posts which have fallen to the deaf ears.

The villagers of the area have requested the education department to look into the matter. “We want atleast three more teachers right now, two science graduates, one english teacher and one general teacher for the improved academic environment of the school, “ the guardians informed. Pertinently, the Hindi language teacher of the school is scheduled to get retired in March 2024.
